Setting your diamond is the exciting last step in making an engagement ring from scratch. You of course have the option to do it yourself in my workshop.
Before you set a diamond, you have to get one. While I sell diamonds, I do not require that you buy a diamond from me. This is so that people with heirloom diamonds can set them into engagement rings we make. You are also welcome to buy a new diamond from someone else if you want. I recommend one of three options:
1) I sell conflict-free diamonds from a respected wholesaler within the industry. Diamonds over 1/2 carat are accompanied by a certificate and serial number. Your diamond can be laser inscribed with a personal message up to 30 characters. My diamonds are a little nicer than competing online retailers, and they cost a little more.
2) It is easy to buy diamonds online from major retailers like James Allen or Diamond.com.
They sell diamonds at a fair price and offer full refunds if you are not happy with your diamond. In general, they are a reliable source for good diamonds at market price. Note: New York State now charges sales tax from major online diamond vendors. If you live in a state that does not charge sales tax from online dealers, buying online may give you a price advantage.
3) If you prefer a brick-and-mortar store, there is no easier place than the diamond district on 47th St. between 5th & 6th. There you can look at your diamonds in person, shop around, maybe find deals, often get ripped off.
Diamond Specs:
When it comes to setting your diamond in our workshop, there are a few factors beyond the "four C's" that are important. Round diamonds are the easiest to set. Diamonds with significantly uneven girdles will be difficult for you to set. Highly included diamonds are more likely to break while setting. Really ugly diamonds will depress me.
While the shape, size, and quality of a diamond are mostly a matter of taste, I highly recommend reading:

I also offer white, blue, yellow and pink cultured diamonds as well as Moissanite and other stones. For more information, visit the buy cultured diamonds page.
