How to Price your Wedding Rings

The most frequently asked question, not surprisingly, is:
How much will this cost?

You can estimate the price easily, because precious metal is sold by weight.

Start with the example prices for 6mm & 4mm x 1.5mm rings:

$2350 - 18k Gold based on a gold market of $1656
$2600 - 22k Gold based on a gold market of $1656
$1825 - Palladium based on a palladium market of $656
$3125 - Platinum based on a platinum market of $1523

Subtract the workshop fee of $1100 for gold, $1250 for platinum. Example:

$3125 total fee - $1250 workshop fee = $1875 precious metal cost

Adjust for today's metal market prices.
(Google: "platinum prices" etc. for market)

Divide the price by the old precious metal price, then multiply by the new price. For example, if today's price of platinum were $1800/oz:

$1875 old mtl price / $1523 old mkt = 1.231 * $1800 new mkt = $2216 new mtl price

Adjust for the width of your rings.

Let's say you want two 6mm bands. Add the widths and you have a total of 12mm. My examples have a total width of 10mm. Divide the price by 10 and multiply by 12.

$2216 / 10mm total width = $221.60/mm * 12mm new width = $2659

Adjust for your ring size:

For women sizes 5 1/2 and smaller, subtract 5%.
For men size 8 and smaller, subtract 5%.
For women size 8 1/2 and men size is 11 or more, add 5%.

$2659 * 95% = $2526 is your new price of metal. This includes sales tax.

Add back the workshop fee:

$2526 + $1250 = $3776

This is how to estimate the price of your rings.
