The most frequently asked question, not surprisingly, is:
How much will this cost?
You can estimate the price easily, because precious metal is sold by weight.
Start with the example prices for 6mm & 4mm x 1.5mm rings:
$1450 - 18k Gold based on a gold market of $897
$1650 - 22k Gold based on a gold market of $897
$1200 - Palladium based on a palladium market of $443
$2775 - Platinum based on a platinum market of $1570
Subtract the workshop fee of $850 for gold, $950 for platinum. Example:
$2775 total fee - $950 workshop fee = $1825 precious metal cost
Adjust for today's metal market prices. (Google: "platinum prices" etc. for market)
Divide the price by the old precious metal price, then multiply by the new price. For example, if today's price of platinum were $1800/oz:
$1825 old mtl price / $1570 old mkt = 1.1624 * $1800 new mkt = $2092 new mtl price
Adjust for the width of your rings.
Let's say you want two 6mm bands. Add the widths and you have a total of 12mm. My examples have a total width of 10mm. Divide the price by 10 and multiply by 12.
$2092 / 10mm total width = $209.20/mm * 12mm new width = $2510
Adjust for your ring size:
If your finger size is less than size 8, subtract 5%.
If you are both is less than size 8, subtract 10%.
If your finger size is 11 or more, add 5%.
$2510 * 95% = $2385 is your new price of metal. This includes sales tax.
Add back the workshop fee:
$2385 + $950 = $3335
This is how to estimate the price of your rings.
A few useful tips:
- The platinum alloy I usually use for the workshops contains 95% platinum. If you prefer to use a 90% alloy of platinum, reduce your materials price by 5%.
- Precious metal is priced based on the market the day it is shipped to me. Your price is based on that price. I do not adjust the price based on market fluctuations after I have purchased your precious metal.
